Ohio cousins visit us

My brother Jason and his family came and visited us from Ohio and we had a blast! We did lots of fun stuff and enjoyed being together.

Here we are the "Big Dam Bridge" over the Arkansas river.  It was pouring rain as Jason and Tina arrived at dinnertime, but then it cleared up and we decided to go for this walk.  The weather was perfect!

Taylor let Stuart hold his finger and Nathan was entertaining Heidi as we walked.  Thomas was running with Ellie.  They kept running way ahead and we had to catch up.  The cousins hit it off right away.

A daddy's job

We went to Lake Catherine State Park near Hot Springs and stayed in cabins for a night.  We were afraid it was going to rain the whole time, but it ended up being perfect.  Super cool for July in Arkansas.  We could have camped it was so nice, but loved our cabins.   Here we are walking to the playground.

We had a little bonfire and made s'mores.

The kids were thirsty and we hadn't brought any water, so they were drinking the water in the ice chest.  They looked like little dogs.

We went on a beautiful hike in the morning.  The kids really liked this old suspension bridge.

There was a nice waterfall at the end of the hike and some of the kids took their shoes off and waded in the little pool at the bottom.

It told David I had to take this picture as a piece of evidence for his greatest dad in the world award.  My back had been hurting really bad and I couldn't carry any kids (I was doing good to hike at all), so we finished the hike this way.

We were going to take David's parents' canoe, but ended up not taking it and just renting one instead.  Jason and the kids had fun on it. 

There was a nice swimming beach.  We went to it both days.  We stayed about this shallow most of the time and built in the sand.

Glow in the dark bowling.  We got this idea from a friend.  The kids liked it, even if some (like our boys) didn't want to play by the rules.  We did it at dusk because we were tired and didn't want to wait until it was completely dark, so our glow in the dark basketball didn't work so well.

On Friday, we went to the Museum of Discovery (I don't have any pictures) and then went to visit Central of course.

 

 

 

 

We were sad to see them go.  We stayed up late talking every night.  We wish they lived a little closer.
