Plants

Our sunflowers bloomed beautifully and the first one is ready to be harvested.  David took some great pictures of them.

We also picked our pears a couple of weeks ago.  We thought they were ready, but they are much bigger now.  We had a whole fridge full of pears that we took out to ripen and yesterday we picked a whole bunch more to put in the fridge.  I am preparing to make a lot of things with pears!  Our friends the Harts came and picked pears with us.

This is just the first round.  We have already filled two more of the big white tubs and there are still some on the tree.
Here are some other garden pictures.  We finally got some zucchini and squash this year.  We have tried for four years and this is our first success.  I have Tressa to thank for teaching me how to self pollenate.

Success!

Stir Fry I made with only vegetables from our garden- onion, garlic, zucchini, and carrots.

This is only half of the carrots (in the bowl below) that we got.  We had already harvested the others.  This is by far our biggest carrot ever.
