Fun Saturday

On Saturday we got up early (for a Saturday) and headed out Highway 10 to the Daffodil festival. It was at a place called Wye Mountain, about 45 minutes away from our house. It is put on by a local church out there. There is a field full of daffodils that have been planted next to the church. It is a beautiful sight! They had an area where you could pick them ($1/dz.) and they also sold bulbs. We bought two dozen bulbs to plant. Thomas had fun running around in the field and playing with our camera. Stuart wasn't so happy, but eventually fell asleep and we were able to enjoy the beauty of the flowers and the great weather. We even got someone to take a family picture for us (we only have a couple of those). I think it turned out nicely, considering Thomas was not cooperating very well.

After the festival we headed to Pinnacle Mountain State Park for a picnic. It was super crowded. I guess we weren't the only ones who wanted to get out and enjoy the weather. Luckily, someone was leaving and we got a close parking spot. We ate our lunch and then walked along the Kingfisher Trail. It is a short, but beautiful, walk. We saw some turtles in the water and Thomas found lots of sticks. He found a really big "stick" and even picked it up, but decided it was too heavy to carry. Then, we went to the playground, but it was really crowded and it was nap time, so we didn't play long.

We went to Walmart and got some mulch and then went home and planted our daffodils. It think it turned out looking pretty good. (If you knew what it looked like before you would definitely agree.)

It was a busy, fun day! This weekend is the start of spring break and we are headed to Ohio and Illinois to see my brothers, Jason and Jacob, and their families.
