Camping

This weekend we went camping at Woolly Hollow State Park. It is about 45 minutes from our house. It ended up being beautiful weather, even though rain had been in the forecast. As we arrived I realized I had forgotten to pack two important things- a flashlight (or any other light source) and matches. So, we set up the tent quickly and David went into town to get a flashlight and matches. Thomas meanwhile found a great walking stick. He thought camping was a great idea! There were lots of sticks, rocks, and leaves for him to play with and he could just run around and get dirty.

Thomas and I finished setting up and I fed Thomas as night set in. He loved sitting in the middle of the table in his high chair. It ended up being a very bright night, with a full moon and some clouds, and we didn't need the flashlight much. After David got back and we ate dinner, Ravioli made on the camp stove, we went up to the playground to play in the dark. Thomas was apprehensive at first, but loved it.

Thomas slept great in his pack-n-play in the tent. Mommy didn't have as much luck, but it wasn't bad on the air mattress. Really the only problem was the bathrooms were a bit too far away for a pregnant woman, but I survived.
The next morning we went on a walk around the park. We found out we were not the only ones camping there (we couldn't see anyone else from our campsite). Most of the people were just at the RV sites up the hill. Thomas was a daddy's boy all morning.








Daddy carried Thomas on his shoulders. We saw lots of planes that day (one time even five at once). Thomas is very good at hearing and pointing out planes. He heard one while he was on daddy's shoulders.









Later, we went down to the beach. The water was very low in the lake, which left a nice beach for us to play in. Thomas thought it was funny to get his feet all covered up with sand.










Here is a picture of the fishing pier. No one was going to be doing any fishing off of it when we were there. You can see our tent in the background.










Thomas thought the sand was very soft, so he kept laying down in it. He was covered from head to toe in sand, but he loved it!











Here is Thomas saying good bye to our campsite as we packed up. He loved camping. I think he would live outdoors if he could. We had a great time. We probably won't be going again any time soon, but next time it will be even more fun with two boys!
